On November 4th, all previously waived U.S. sanctions against Iran under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) will be reimposed, specifically those restricting sales of oil and petrochemical products from Iran, and nullifying contracts for US and European manufacturers like Boeing and Airbus, among many others. Join us for a talk with David Peyman, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Counter Threat Finance and Sanctions, who will discuss the U.S. foreign policy objectives towards Iran, and whether progress has been made between the Trump Administration and President Rouhani to find diplomatic solutions to resolve the dispute over Iran’s nuclear program.

Mr. Peyman was formerly the Global Head of Sanctions for BlackRock, Inc. Prior to joining BlackRock, Mr. Peyman was a Special Assistant United States Attorney assigned to a narcotics cartel strike force and Deputy Attorney General of California, Financial Fraud and Special Prosecutions Unit. Mr. Peyman served as Jewish Affairs and Outreach Director for the Trump-Pence campaign and on the Presidential Transition Team. He obtained his law degree from Harvard Law School and his undergraduate degree from UCLA, where he graduated summa cum laude, received the Chancellor’s Service Award and was the class commencement speaker. He speaks fluent Persian.
