Chamber Music Palisades Announces Tuesday, Nov. 14
the First Concert of its 21st Consecutive Season
Palisadians flutist Susan Greenberg and pianist Delores Stevens will once again be on stage in the classic sanctuary of St. Matthew’s Parish along with a trio of nationally and internationally celebrated guest artists. The works to be performed are Lauber’s Medieval Dances for flute and harp, Manuel De Falla’s Suite Populaire Espagnol for viola and piano, a Claude Debussy Trio for flute, viola and harp, plus works by Jennifer Higdon and Alfred Uhl. The concert will start with informative commentary by Alan Chapman.
Violist Karen Dreyfus, a recent Palisades resident, has received acclaim for her performances in the U.S., Canada. Europe, Asia and South America and frequently performs with her husband, Glenn Dicterow, former Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic.
When asked about harpist Cristina Montes Mateo, opera star Placido Domingo replied “I have met and heard thousands of musicians, but I can highlight only one of them in the harp world, Cristina Montes Mateo”. Clarinetist Donald Foster is a member of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra and principal clarinetist of both the Pasadena and Santa Barbara Symphonies.
“Since 1997 Chamber Music Palisades has concentrated on its primary mission, to bring professional chamber concerts to the Westside that are the equal of any offered elsewhere in the Southland,” said CMP President Jim Stevens. “Our pledge to our supporters and to the regional community is to continue this effort going forward into our third decade.”
