Mrs. Manningham (Corinne Shor) suspects she is losing her mind. Pictures disappear from the walls, bills get misplaced, and her favorite hair brush has been missing for months. Her husband, Mr. Manningham (John Cygan) accuses her of loosing or hiding the items. She cannot recollect doing any of these things, and fears that she will go mad just as her very own mother did. To make matters worse, ......NoHo Arts Dist. - GASLIGHT IS A GAS! @THEATRE WEST

Lowell’s thought-provoking two hander, The Letters. In 1931, Russia’s Ministry of Information itself is a punch line. Anna’s job is to redact documents that compromise the ideals of the Soviet society. She is summoned to the office of the Director on the pretense that she is to be promoted. If you want to feel special some evening, go there. It is absolutely charming, comfy elegant gold velvet chairs, a bookcase in the back and armchair viewing for all. I will try to write this review based on what I learned from our heroine last night, to let go of your will and follow your heart. The play is set in a museum in Leningrad in 1956. If you enjoy fine pop singing, and who doesn’t, then you’ll have a delightful time listening to four songbirds recreate hits of the 50’s and 60’s at The Marvelous Wonderettes. Act 1 takes place at a 1950’s high school prom where the four girls are the performers for their fellow seniors, and Act 2 takes place at the ten-year reunion, where the women are reunited to sing again. There are more than 30 favorites, like Lollipop, Mr. Sandman, It’s My Party, ......NoHo Arts Dist. - THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES

Don't you remember?” (Mark 8:18) Brian Friel’s play “Molly Sweeney” was performed to perfection last night at the Celtic Arts Center. Three characters tell the story of restoring sight to a blind woman. Two men, one woman, three minds, one heart. The men could see, but could they understand? Molly could not see, but yes, she understood. Susan McConnell from Tyrone, N. Ireland, plays the part of Molly, the heart in this play. Almost from the start we know exactly who's going to do what to whom and why. The only mystery in the Artificial Jungle is, will they get away with it? Pam Levin, who played Roxanne in the performance I saw last weekend, I know as a publicist. I've gone to a number of shows she has represented. We gave away lots of great prizes, met lots of nice people and had a lot of fun. The weather gods were even good enough to hold off the rain on Sunday until the festival ended and we were all packed up. Two of them did not respond to my invitation, others were busy, one painting her bathroom walls, another going to a real estate seminar to learn how to buy condos in Texas without seeing them. Here is an opportunity, free, to see and experience life with a deeper perspective, to hear the passions of others, their loves, their pain, their journeys through life. Answer: they're all part of the Eye Spy LA givaway extravaganza at this year's NOHO Theatre & Arts Festival May 20-21. Why would you want to spend a Saturday night in a dirty little kitchen in Ireland in 1852 where the potatoes being peeled are rotten and “the tea” is really boiling water that you have to imagine is tea. But then, imagining is part of the gift and charm of the Irish people. The first spoken word is “shit.” Matters devolve over the course of an evening depicted almost in real time in a New York City apartment. There are bloody murders and plot twists. Gentlemen, you’ll have the pleasure of your female companion squirming and averting her eyes during the murder-in-the-tub scene. The drive over on clogged freeways is forgotten and diminished by the richness of the journey I was graced with in this tiny wonderful theater. Hammari knows the format: there’s a mild monologue by Mike himself to open the show, then a couple written skits, a couple improv skits, a funny song that Mike sings, and the time-honored tradition of a non-humorous musical guest (like the 5th Dimension singing Wedding Bell Blues on Woody Allen’s comedy special, or the pop acts on SN ......NoHo Arts Dist. - Mike Hammari's Completely Not Valentine's Day Show - Review

The primary focus here is on theater and there are many of them in the area. In fact a highlight of this festival is the many free performances given at local theaters. For some reason the MTA budgeted for art when constructing the Metro system, but didn't budget for any restrooms. With the exception of Union Station, all of the Red Line subway stations lack this necessary amenity. There are probably many reasons for that, but nevertheless, people, organic beings that they are, have certain needs. If you want to encour ......NoHo Arts Dist. - L.A. Toidy Story?

This was the first time they had a separate fine arts area - and the first time I've ever participated at any kind of event like this. Supposedly this area was to showcase emerging artists. Hmmm....
