03/16/2010
(Saturday)
Cinespace 6356 Hollywood Boulevard

Cost: $5.00 - $10.00 donation

It's that time of year cats and kittens. Where Hollywood congratulates itself for being great, and we remind everyone that the best way to help the poor is to come and drink, listen to great bands, and get free shwag.

Saturday, March 13th, at Cinespace in Hollywood, 5PM-8PM come out and support the Covenant House California. The event will feature awesome music from Fat, Drunk and Ugly, Hollywood Way and 80’s cover band Neurotic City; as well as burlesque and magic.

Here's the skinny.

1) Wear something snazzy. Classy cocktail dress, suit and tie. It IS awards season after all.

2) Bring a donation of $5 - $10 for Covenant House California.

3) Enjoy the free beer and cash bar.

4) Walk away with a totes amazing bag of schwag.

5) Pat yourself on the back for caring about others.

It's that simple!

To RSVP, please email event organizer Jonah Keel: kidwicket@hotmail.com

COVENENT HOUSE OF CALIFORNIA (CHC) is a multi-service agency, with locations in the heart of Hollywood and Oakland, dedicated to assisting homeless and at-risk youth in resolving their crisis situations, attaining stable housing environments, employment, and preventing adult homelessness. Since 1988, CHC has opened its doors to homeless youth who suffer from the trauma of trying to survive on the streets and the physical or psychological abuse, neglect, or high-risk behaviors that led them there. Youth are referred by CHC's evening Van Outreach or Day Outreach programs, the toll free crisis line 1-800-999-9999, by other agencies, or by youth themselves.

FAT, DRUNK AND UGLY are brothers Jeremy and Stephen Riddle. This rockabilly, alt country comedy duo has played extensively at O'Brien's in Santa Monica, Howl at the Moon on City walk, the El Cid on Sunset, and the Loft in Highland Park. Upcoming shows include May 6th at The Trip in Venice.

HOLLYWOOD WAY
Thomas Madsen on vocals blends harmonious sounds with a roar that rivals the king of the jungle. While in the audience of American Idol, Thomas surprised everyone with his version of "Happy Birthday"; imploring Randy Jackson to comment, "Nice vocals dog".

Perfectionists Dustin Todd and Andre Dubois share duties on rhythm and lead guitar. Todd, originally from West Virginia, studied jazz and classical guitar at both Fairmont and West Virginia University. He brings the soul of sound with precision and artistry. On the other side of the stage you will find the lifelong musician and Maine native, Dubois, who interjects East Coast grit and piercing purity with mesmerizing riffs that continually resonate in your mind.

Spencer Brock, a Southern California Native, anchors the band by implementing mathematical precision, laced with madness. The son of former "The Babies" and "Rod Stewart Band's" drummer Tony Brock, Spencer has a lifelong intimacy with music that moves you. His story includes the band Three Tears, who became Hollywood Undead, and once making music with the 80's icon Rick Springfield. Spencer puts his entire being into every beat, crushing drums with power and focus, setting the base for musical magic produced at every performance.

NEUROTIC CITY is a young, hip duo that integrates electronica and live instrumentation to create a unique take on classic 80’s dance hits. Each set is assembled in a DJ-like fashion so the dancing never skips a beat.

Ryan Merchant, a native of San Francisco, started his music career at the ripe age of 5 ritualistically studying and imitating Michael Jackson circa “Thriller”. Later his performance skills were honed while busking on the streets of Paris, where he attended high school, and L.A where he graduated from USC. Most recently, his talents have been tapped by DJ Superstar Paul Van Dyk who recently licensed a vocal track co-written and recorded by Ryan for his album “In Between”. Van Dyk has also asked Ryan to join him for live performances to promote the album in Berlin, New York City, and Los Angeles.

Nick Merwin (aka The Mer), schooled in the dark arts of software development, beat forging, knob tweaking and six string thrashery, was groomed from an early age to live out his dream as one-half the ultra-80’s band, Neurotic City. To earn a title, Nick has painstakingly reprogrammed and nurtured each 80’s hit by hand with one goal in mind – to blow speaker cones. Armed with only an axe and a trusty MacBook Pro, Nick lets his onstage neurosis flourish while simultaneously running the soundboard, light show and keeping his over-productive sweat glands in check.

BURLESQUE DANCER, Dia Blow is the resident burlesque dancer at Club Discipline. A featured performer at Viva Las Vegas 2009 and can be seen again soon at, BurlesqueLand, March 17th @ Bordello & March 22nd @ 3 of Clubs, Club Discipline @ Passive Arts Studios March 20th. She has also been featured in music videos for "Everytime We Touch" by Cascada & "Roller Derby Girl" by 900 Pound Gorilla.

MAGICIAN
Spencer Brock has been performing magic for fifteen years and recently began working with magician Yigal Mesika. Together the duo creates tricks and illusions for magicians at the Hollywood magic Shop.
