Hollywood and a sight of the Hollywood sign are on most visitor's must do list. I can't help but think that in past years Hollywood has been a major disappointment to visitors. But ongoing urban renewal projects have improved the area and tourists now get at least some of what they came here for. The Walk of Fame along Vine st. and Hollywood blvd. is indicated on the map (with stars of course). This section of Hollywood blvd. might arguably be called the lingerie capital of the world with numerous shops dedicated to feminine undergarmets (Fredrick's of Hollywood being the most famous) as well as wigs and shoes. If you have plus size feet (girls you know who you are) be prepared for shoe shopping paradise. For the rest of us, it's fun to look at. There are a lot of cheesy souvenier shops as well. The new shopping and entertainment complex at Hollywood and Highland has upscale shops and dining and the Kodak Theatre - now the home of the Oscars. Getting there:
Via the subway - get off at either Vine or Highland and walk to the other station. They now have the Holly Trolly to help you get around Hollywood once you're here.
**Note: public restrooms are available at the Hollywood Highland complex above the Metro station.
By car - Take the Hollywood Freeway (101) and exit at Highland. There is parking (for a fee) at the Hollywood and Highland complex. Many clubs and restaurants are located near Hollywood and Vine. There are numerous parking lots available, but they cost.


The main area to tour is Hollywood Boulevard between Highland and Vine. But there is more to this area than the walk of fame and the Hollywood sign. Check the Hollywood event calendar for the latest entertainment and activities.
