"Eye Spy LA is the greatest events calendar for LA. Period. Not only do we always list our Spirited Woman events in it and have pulled great results - but it is my own weekly "whats-going-on" bible, and I personally don't make a plan before checking the listings." - Nancy Mills Founder, Spirited Woman
"I so look forward to this [newsletter] every Friday. Thank you" - Icetea3

Time Stamp: A Diary in Postcards by Julianna Parr
The Advocate & Gochis Galleries
Opening reception Thursday, Aug 7 6-10 p.m.
Gallery hours: Mon-Fri 6-10 p.m., Saturdays 9 am-5 pm, and by appointment
Julianna Parr may be best known as Craft-Captain, the creator of the weekly “Craft Night” at Akbar, one of Silver Lake’s most popular night spots. But for Parr, making fun, quirky, creative art is a full-time job; she is also a serious commercial and fine artist, with clients ranging from major film and television studios to national advertisers.
Her world premiere exhibition, Time Stamp, was Inspired by fellow artists who made a daily habit of creating art. Parr began creating a “postcard diary” in 1998. Now, 10 years later, she has more than 1000 individual, handmade postcards, with images inspired by everything from pop-culture icons to deeply personal events.
For the reception on Aug 7, JP will set up a "Cozy Art Rumpus Room" with opportunities for everyone to make postcard art in a magical atmosphere she likes to call "SuperNova Eleganza." A computer interface will be set up in the rumpus room where patrons can vote on their favorite postcards, browse postcards by keyword, buy TimeStamp: The Book, or order prints. Originals will not be for sale: The postcards exist as a private collection belonging to family and friends.
In addition to her work as Craft Captain, Parr is also the Head Candycorn of Gothtober.com, an online, time-released countdown to Halloween featuring the work of 31 artists. Parr’s artwork has been featured in such productions as "The Office", "Forgetting Sarah Marshall", and "Scrubs", to name a few; and tens of millions of people saw the pigeon helmet designs she created for the FedEx commercial during the 2008 Super Bowl.
