"Eye Spy LA is the greatest events calendar for LA. Period. Not only do we always list our Spirited Woman events in it and have pulled great results - but it is my own weekly "whats-going-on" bible, and I personally don't make a plan before checking the listings." - Nancy Mills Founder, Spirited Woman
"I so look forward to this [newsletter] every Friday. Thank you" - Icetea3

The authentic, annual LA tradition of Brazilian Carnaval erupts on Saturday February 20, 2010 at Club Nokia/LA Live, transforming the massive dance floor into a true Brazilian party, for the first time in Downtown LA. The largest carnaval on the west coast returns to L.A. with the Brazilian Nites Production’s “10th Annual Brazilian Carnaval 2010,” featuring the legendary roving band on a float, TRIO ELETRICO featuring Armandinho, the irresistible Brazilian Nites Samba Dancers, DJ Garth Trinidad spinning the latest Brazilian hits, over 20 drummers, capoeira, caipirinhas, Havaianas, Mardi Gras beads and more.
LA is the official Sister City of Salvador Bahia where Carnaval this year will be celebrated as “60 years of Trio Eletrico.” Los Angeles and Salvador have been engaged in cultural, medical, commercial and educational exchange programs since the relationship was established in 1962. The Los Angeles-Salvador Sister Cities Committee launched the Annual Brazilian Day Celebration at the African Marketplace in 1997 to highlight Salvador Artists and performers.
Proceeds from Carnaval go to benefit Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall associated camp for critically ill children "The Painted Turtle," a 173 acre medical specialty camp and non-profit.
The BIGGEST & MOST EXTRAVAGANT CARNAVAL party in Southern California
*the history making TRIO ELETRICO direct from Bahia with virtuoso guitarist Armandinho performing timeless Carnaval hits ---featuring Brazil’s Jimi Hendrix – Armandihno
*KCRW DJ Garth Trinidad spins alternative Brazilian dance music
