LIVIN' LARGE IN SIERRA MADRE - PLUS SIZED PLANT TAKES OVER TOWN

 Big is beautiful, all 250 tons of the world's largest blossoming plant (according to the Guiness Book of World Records) are lovely to look at. The only chance to see this vigorous vine comes once a year at the Annual Wistaria Festival in Sierra Madre.
This giant vine started out as a one gallon plant more than one hundred years ago, but Wistaria is very fast growing (up to 24 inches in 24 hours) and grow it did, eventually crushing the original house. Each year the current property owners open their home for a day so that we can come and take a look. The lines can be long to get to the vine, so get your tickets for the shuttle to the vine before you go. Along with the vine viewing, the town hosts a street fair with plenty of entertainment, arts and crafts. The 2012 festival will be held on Sunday March 25.
