    The Local's Guide to Los Angeles and Southern California

    Los Angeles Area Tours - Metro Red Line
    North Hollywood - NoHo - Around Town

    Head south from the Metro station to the NoHo Arts & Entertainment District. For those without a compass, there are a bunch of auto dealerships to the north of the station on Lankershim Blvd. Head in the opposite direction to tour the area.

    The center of the district is at Lankershim and Magnolia. The Television Academy of Arts and Sciences is located on the north east corner. Statues of some of the all time favorite TV personalities line the Hall of Fame courtyard area.

    What's Doing?
    Theater, theater, theater - over 20 of them in this area. Get a ticket and see a play.

    Art: shops and galleries display an interesting assortment of the artistic output of the area. Check out the shops along Lankershim and for a block or so both ways on Magnolia.

    What's Cooking?
    If you're in the mood for coffee, the ever reliable Starbucks is across the street. Or grab a beverage and a sandwich or pizza on the opposite corner at the Pit Fire. Both have outdoor seating areas where you can perch and watch the street scene. Just south of Magnolia on the east side of the street is the Eclectic Cafe: good food, interesting decor and art from local artists, eclectic california cuisine, reasonable prices - lunch and dinner - highly recommended.

    What's Nearby:
    Universal Studios & City Walk - about a mile or so south. Hop on the Red Line and get off at the next stop. A free tram across Lankershim from the Metro station will take you up the hill.
    Hollywood Bowl - during the performance season you can catch a bus to the Bowl at Lankershim and Ventura - just about a block south of Universal Studios and the Metro station.
